On the Edge
Breakfast and then we hit the road from Dingle to Galway with many memorable stops along the way. First, a ferry crossing across the Shannon Estuary and off to the Cliffs of Moher – that rise spectacularly 650 feet above the Atlantic. The Cliffs are featured in many scenes of movies, including: Leap Year and Harry Potter. We walked up to O’Brien’s tower and took in the spectacular views along the amazing cliffs. Lunch and time in the vast but busy visitor’s center. Next, we stopped at The Holy Well of St. Bridget where many come seeking cures and blessings. More sights in County Clare as we stop at the rocky, moonscape earth of The Burren. A guide tells us about the incredible plant life that manages to thrive here and we learn about the odd Wedge Tombs that dot this stark, rocky landscape. We bussed into Galway and checked into Ardawn House. Dinner with the group at McSwiggans Restaurant. Fun to recount our adventures with new friends over a nice meal. The Galway Races were happening at this time and some group members decide to go the next day.
