Where the WIld Things Are
Today we set off on our way to Dingle. Our first stop was in Kenmare to visit the Kenmare lace shop and an ancient stone circle nearby. After a snack, we were on our way again with a memorable stop at the Kissane Sheep Farm. Beautifully situated with grand vistas of the black valley, we watched the farm’s amazing family dogs herd sheep under the voice command of the owner, John. Next a demonstration of actual sheep sheering and time to tour the farm and take in the gorgeous views. After this we drove on into the Killarney National Park and stopped for views of Killarney lakes. A stop at Muckross House for lunch and time to hike the scenic grounds by Muckross Lake. Then we hopped on the bus again and headed off to Dingle, known for it’s rich musical heritage. We checked into our hotel, rested a bit and then some of the group went off to the local music shop for entertainment and a lesson on playing wooden spoons. We had dinner on our own at the Marina Pub and then walked along the waterfront. Afterwards, we had yummy ice cream at Murphy’s and finally, sleep after a long day of adventure!
