into the north we go
We checked out of the hotel and drove to Drumcliff to visit the grave site of W.B. Yeats.
The we set off to Donegal, where we wandered into tweed shops and enjoyed a quick lunch. Back on the bus and off to Derry City. Our guide Stephen shows us the city and we learned of it’s history, Protestant / Catholic tensions, The Troubles and the infamous, Bloody Sunday of 1972. We visited the Bog district and viewed the large political murals. We walked the walls, built in 1613-1618, and visited the beautiful stained glass windows in Guild Hall. We left Derry and arrived in Portrush, checked into our hotel and then met for a group dinner at the restaurant 55 North.
